I had been looking for a house in the old west side of Ann Arbor that needed
a lot of work. This house popped up. I paid $228,000 and was able to close in a few weeks.
The house had not been updated for about 70 years, with old newspaper used as insulation and hand written
notes indicating broken plumbing and electicity. I saw this as a good thing.
A similar house in slightly better condition would have cost well over $300,000. I planned on doing a complete
renovation of the house, so a cheaper house in horrible condition was ideal.
